Directly over the snapped layout lines on the subfloor, and across the underside of the wall plates. Those two surfaces end up pressed together for the life of the building, which is why that is the seam it targets.
Can it be applied in the yard instead of on site?
Yes. NorCal Lumber and West Coast Framing are incorporating it into prefabrication as well as on-site building practice. If you panelize, that is worth covering on the call.
