Evacuating the Tahoe basin in summer could take 14 hours. 99% of properties in South Lake Tahoe are at risk in a wildfire. And new resorts are still being built in high-danger fire areas.
Join the Wildfire Pro Shop and the Safer Chemistry Non Profit 501(c)(3) and sign the Tahoe Risk Reduction Petition at our shop. Why is San Diego Fire Rescue receiving grants year after year to spray CitroTech and make roadways and at-risk communities safer in wildfire — when Tahoe carries a much higher risk profile? We’re collecting donations alongside signatures to make Lake Tahoe exit corridors safer without cutting down a single tree.
The San Diego Precedent
The San Diego Fire-Rescue Foundation recently received a $367,000 grant from the San Diego River Conservancy to launch a fire-prevention project preserving the San Diego River Watershed. The initiative includes brush management, weed abatement, and the application of CitroTech, an environmentally friendly fuel treatment recognized on the EPA’s Safer Choice list.
San Diego Fire Marshal Tony Tosca described the project this way: 46 acres of high-risk areas were identified, focused 10 feet from roadways in evacuation corridors and at-risk communities with only one route out — the goal being to make sure people can get out in a fire emergency.
That’s exactly the kind of investment Tahoe needs. Sign the petition, donate, and let’s build the case.
