The Wildfire Pro Shop’s founder has been working on one mission for years: defend wood structures without toxic chemicals. The LA wildfires made the message louder, and watching the rebuild begin with raw, untreated lumber — in the middle of a national home insurance crisis — confirmed the work isn’t even close to done.
His view is simple. Every fire retardant used around homes, communities, and watersheds should be required to pass the EPA Safer Choice Products testing regime. Until they do, our ecosystems and water resources stay exposed to chemistries we can’t fully see, sprayed in places we can’t unspray.
It’s not too late if we all unite — homeowners, builders, regulators, fire professionals, and the people who simply love these places. Same goal, different tools. Better chemistry.
